We should create another thread for reviews and the like. Just noticed some guy who tweeted a concert review he did for some SF paper, and he called this album his "career highlight". Is it his best? I've listened to it non-stop for months now, so it is amazing - but when I dust off the previous albums I wonder how it will compare. Thoughts?

I enjoy WMBtPCoO more than Love is Real. Actually, I wish there were at least four or five more songs on the new album. With that said, I've listened to the new album at least fifty times! :dabbadeedabbadoo:

Good question. I think maybe "Pitiless Censors" highlights some strengths for JM that weren't as apparent or honed in his earlier records, but this stellar ability to write really-dynamic pop songs (definitely more prominent on "Pitiless Censors" than on other records, I would say, and the cleaner/more polished production definitely unearths his melodies a bit more too)--may not be what he's going for (or what all his fans like about him). I think this will surely bring him some attention from a lot of folks who couldn't be bothered to let JM's previous albums grow on them, and could make him really popular--I mean, "Believer" has "hit" written all over it. I don't know. I think it's a really great record. It's so different that I find it hard to compare (even though John claims it's not enough of a departure or a "step up" for him to be fully satisfied). But on "Pitiless Censors," like he's flexing a different muscle (that sounds a little gross) for this one, but it's not like he's abandoned all the other ones he's used before.

I don't think that answers your question, I got a little rambly.
