the quality of the leak i've downloaded is terrible, sounds like 'songs' quality without the intention, you know? a lot of this reminds me of animal collective, like 'street light'. i guess he's in with them so...fffff?...the crucifix sounds like john singing a geneva J song...'cop killer' is the only one i like, it's pretty bad ass, he's pushing it with that one, like fuck yeah, that's where it's at....i liked 'keep pushing on' in the youtube videos, but i don't like this recording i've got of it...already heard 'matter of fact'...i hate head for the country. i've never gone to a JM show and don't know the crowds that go, but i imagine it's a lot of hoppin' boppin' college tweenies and i think this album is for them. it'd be kool if there was an album of 'cop killer' going back to the 'songs' aesthetic -tascam 688, is that what he used -.., but whatever and ffff....shit.

this is what i got:

i agree that the quality of the leak is probably not the best, but who cares? you've still probably spent like 3 or 4 hours listening to it...beggars can't be choosers.

now that i've re-read your post and totally understood the college tweenies comment, i don't even know whether you are serious or what? outside of my small group of friends, to the best of my knowledge, i don't know anyone else that knows about john maus. and whatever, head for the country is fucking awesome.

have fun being totally disappointed.

for me, 'cop killer' is like the end. it's like, you're on acid in taco bell with you're worst friends/enemies and a cop goes into the drive through and you've got like guns and shit in your buddies shitty little s10 that you have to bum rides in so you don't have to walk across town in 100+ degrees to get a cheap meal w/o hassle and you don't have a kitchen and shit, and, you know, you don't have anything thing good in your life, but you're real compassionate and shit, and you used to believe in salvation and now you're drunk, high, and shits thizzkillington if you don't kill these fucking cops, they're fucking capitalizing off you and yer hell and you're just so done with yourself. :666D:

i care about the quality because i'm not buying that shit, but want to hear it not being so distorted on my boombox. i'm not going to be listening to it more than once. most of it is stuff i've already heard, it's like entropy and shit you know. i'm not begging for anything turd stick.

that kind of begs the question as to why you are even posting on a john maus board, right? you're not going to buy the album...you'll listen to it once...then why are you here? to promote your disease and drug free band? and you really aren't begging for anything? you did an at-least-semi-advanced google search for a link (which this board gave you the heads up on) to download the album for free, then you came back to post your blasé and incoherent review of it.

yeah, we all get it, matter of fact = pussy. it's still one of the better maus songs and has been for quite a while.

well, i've probably listened to 'songs' more than anyone out there. i'm probably one of john's biggest fans and indirect supporters, like fan support or whatever, believing quietly, watching, whatever. i've spoken about him, i've tried to make music videos for him in attempts to open up some communication or something. i have spoken to him once like 4 years ago through myspace and it didn't really get my questions answered. his philosophies and lifestyle or plight or whatever that is, i relate to i guess, he seems like a brother, but i dunno, he's on his own 'thing' isn't he, we all are, but still, i think he capitalizes off of the 'brother' thing, which offends me when i 'believed'. like, he's talking in third person or some shit, like he's singing to himself, is what i think now. i used to think he was singing for 'me' or 'us', but now, like ariel said in a recent interview, i see it's all political. i guess i'm the same way, but in a lower position. i ???
