SNL
Just seen a tweet from Ribbon about how the "Evelyn" song in last week's SNL was apparently knocked off from John so Fred Armisen sent him a letter of thanks. Did anyone here watch it who can fill me in?

Re: SNL
I can't access hulu in the UK, but I think the 'My Daughter' clip at the bottom of the page is the one we want. Can anyone PLEASE find it somewhere I can watch it?

In the meantime I found a recap blurb from an online article: "It appears as though the incestuous Vogelchecks have been murdered and replaced by a family that markets their teenage daughter, Evelyn (Gordon-Levitt in '90s era dELIA*s drag), to a potential suitor with a haunting ballad while Evelyn interpretive-dances. “We present her to you,” sing Armisen and McKinnon, “with all of her flaws, we present her to you.” McKinnon and Gordon-Levitt had some moments in this weird beast, like when McKinnon sang the lyrics “she was once inside me, and now she’s outside me” or when Gordon-Levitt force-fed his date crackers and cheese, but there was really nothing to be done. Now we can only try to forget."
Sounds more funny-peculiar than funny-haha!

The skit is at minute 54 and a few seconds (after the band). I have never heard the song so I don't know what is has to do with John or his music. The only thing I see is that Fred Amiston pokes his eye once while he sings
. He saw John's concert in Portland and liked it. I happened to watch SNL that night which I hardly ever do and it never occurred to me to think it had anything to do with anything John does. But I did notice that the "blind date" dresses like John and has his current hairstyle. Maybe that's it? Still, kind of fun.

Re: SNL
Thank you for the link, mamamaus!
Hopefully some of my American buddies can help me out watching it!
Fred Armisen does seem like a cool guy, very switched on musically. A friend was touring with Buzzcocks and had a bit of a car crash with him on the way to Coachella. He didn't take insurance details, but instead requested a few of his favourite songs to be played! Very kind of him to thank John for the inspiration as well.

Re: SNL
Yeah it's a very loose nod to John, I suppose - the song only has one recurring moment which is 'John-like' to me, if I watched it without knowing I might not have noticed there was any reference intended. The guest who comes in does seem to be dressed like him and have the hairstyle as mamamaus pointed out, but other than that, it's all a bit random! Joseph Gordon-Levitt has nice jugs, though.
