Re: Mausfriends
i just assumed we were already in a place where the concept of anything like sentences were of too much structure and stood in the way of true and unadulterated passionate love.

Didn't someone once say the very entrance into language signifies our immutable separation from the Real? Sentence structure, be damned. Keep on following the thread.

Re: Mausfriends
Though perhaps mawkish and insufferably saccharine (I can say that because I started it), this thread remains relevant.
In less than a month I am taking a trip halfway across the world to meet someone 'irl' that I know from here and I don't think I've ever been more excited about anything. Met my best friend of the past six years here as well. Sometimes I think about the chaos theory and how my life would be drastically different (poorer) if I never heard a John Maus song. Mausspace is the place.

LL, your thoughts are not mawkish. It takes great strength and courage to subject your genuine thoughts to the scrutinous gaze of others. I feel like this is why irony is so prevalent as the standby defense mechanism of those terrified to be, even for a second, wholly present(e.g., usually me). I am so thankful I have joined mausspace, which, by the way, only happened because of your graciousness and generosity in sharing out of print John Maus recordings with a total stranger. Thank you! This is a graciousness and generosity which I have found to be the rule rather than the exception here on Mausspace. I have received so much! I am forever in immense debt and will do my best to repay it to this wonderful community of people willing to share their most positive thoughts and excitations and wishes with the world. A community predicated on “doing their best,” a primary ethos of the John Maus aesthetic. My love of music and art and discovery has been reinvigorated by this website and the kind and present and thoughtful human beings that populate it. I never understood the allure of “social media” before joining mausspace. It all seemed such an enunciation of individual egos rather than a dialogue between subjects seeking the real. A further alienation from the communal rather than the connectivity such discourse promised. I am an imperfect specimen, born of impossibilities, in an age of technologies that makes the most insane propositions seem commonplace. I wish to thank everyone for their kindness and acceptance in making my existence more enlightened, more open, and more tolerable. Best wishes always and forever

So very well said! I'm also extremely grateful for people's generosity here. I've been on some music forums where the members will horde material and act cliquey and proprietary. I've sent and received so many free gifts via this forum; it's really unprecedented.tbonefunkhammer wrote:LL, your thoughts are not mawkish. Thank you, App. I surely will. Plan on hitting a lot of record shops and live venues.

Re: Mausfriends
This is so amazing to read! I didn't realise that by setting this up (with Adri & Jessi) all those years ago could lead to friendships being formed like this.LadyLazarus wrote:Though perhaps mawkish and insufferably saccharine (I can say that because I started it), this thread remains relevant.
