It makes me wonder what's on Addendum, if the music from the Counter Strike video will make an appearance. We shall see!
So happy & overjoyed - feeling confident this will be a success for John.

Re: New Maus in the House (2017???)
Hmmm, yes... I'm finding Pets a bit near the knuckle right now... When my Mum died in 2013 I took in her totally adorable cat, who I've known for a long time now, and have been looking after her ever since. Thing is, she had kittens at the beginning of 1999, so she must be 19/20 years old now. Not that she either looks or acts like it - I have to get the laser pointer out for her to chase the red dot every day. But as is often the way with cats, her kidneys are deteriorating. I've never bonded with a pet like this before, because I've never had sole care of one. It's innocent, open-hearted, unconditional love all the way and she's such a character, quirky, fiery (she's a Bengal/tabby cross) but very loving. Just wondering how much longer we've got together at the moment. When I was trying to find leaked uploads I googled 'John Maus Pets' and got the thread on here, which contains comments I didn't really need to read.
Ah well. Pets is an astonishing piece of music, and if anybody could write something like that and get away with it (from my point of view right now) it's John. Been listening to it on headphones with Jess (my baby) curled up next to me on the sofa and yes, feeling guilty about it too. I don't *think* Jess speaks English, but you never know...
Loving the album hard anyway. Sound quality on the files is superb - this leak sounds like it came from a long way up the chain. Wondering if some of the tracks were at least partly played live, maybe with overdubs - a few of them don't sound like they've been recorded to a clicktrack. A few of the songs sound like they're only just about managing to contain the energy they're carrying. Loving the synth work - properly psychedelic tonal palette on some of the songs. Also really pleased at the variation in styles - good to hear.
And to think there's another one coming along in a few months' time...

probably his most post-punk release till now, and most solid imo. the highs are not as high as the ones on Censors but none of the tracks feel like filler.
also i find bombs away kinda depressing for some reason

Re: New Maus in the House (2017???)
Why did John say that about my pets??
Seriously listened to the album last night for the first time with my two cats right there looking at me...
Seems to be a common issue with this song. More controversial than Cop Killer?

Re: New Maus in the House (2017???)
I would say this album could be his masterpiece so far. The range and consistency he displays throughout is really impressive. I find the whole thing genuinely moving. He hasn't lost any of his darkness or his light. And that great, hooky John Maus bass is back, damn.
I'm so excited by Screen Memories like I haven't been by anything in a long time. It's in my head all day and I look forward to coming home and playing it. It's my electric cocktail after work.
Also Pets is one of my favorite songs on the album. It's bittersweet and blackly comic (and it fucking rocks).
