when I first met him in 2005 (supporting him) he was a bit of a prick and when I saw him a couple of years ago he was a bit of a prick.
the stuff coming out about him being a shit to women - his ex, Globelamp - not into it. can't make excuses for it. it disturbs me more than any politics.

I definitely agree that what's gone around involving his treatment of women is far more concerning than anything related to politics. I can't help but find it a bit tragically humorous that his label and (former) friends were completely silent on accusations of sexual misconduct and harassment, yet choose to draw the line on voting for someone half of the country voted for. Like, really?

I just don't know anymore. The removal of the Ariel Pink forums. Unreal. All that history gone. I hate it man. I can't see myself coming back. There was so much more than just the man himself. It was about the music more than anything. Unbelievable.

Removal of the ariel pink forum is fascist, hypocritical censorship that is leading towards the disillusionment-complex running rampant in the United States today. i am aligned hard left, and I do not condone anything anti-humanitarian by any stretch of the imagination. Bottom line-- removing every last link of content that does not align with your status quo is fucking disgusting. i'm embarrassed to have ever used this forum over the past ten years. i don't care to read up on twitter DMs or IG posts or whatever you all are into now. ARIEL PINK and JOHN MAUS have never been good people in the eyes of the public, and the idea that you need your "idols" to be so righteous is strange and unnerving (and completely predictable with today's current zeitgeist). Additionally, the fact that you didn't dissolve this forum when maus appeared on MDE shows that you're picking and choosing your history the way you see fit. this forum is not a breeding ground for people who philosophically align themselves with the ideologies of AP and JM; this forum is a place where people come to discuss all things AP and JM. Trump disgustingly refuses to deny supporting white supremacy because he needs the voter base in order to push his agenda forward. AP is not the guy to get hung up trying to explain himself and/or apologize-- staunchly so-- and I'm guessing he doesn't care who he looses due to this "breaking news". (with idols like RSM, what moore can we expect?)
HYPOCRISY! If you were all so thorough in your philosophy (aka self-righteousness), you would be living off the grid in a fucking commune-- away from every last bit of society. because there is not one bit of this society you can enjoy without enjoying the suppression that the far-right-wing capitalist system in the US has imposed on its working class. the super-majority of people are being exploited every fucking day in the U.S. so that the war-mongering, capitalist b/millionaires can stay rich. (don't forget the carbon footprint of running data 2 billion smart phones on one planet).
hopefully ^this^ isn't news to anyone here; I'm just trying to say that that all that shit you buy from kroger every week comes at a big cost. if you're not going to sit outside picketing every single corporation in the United States, why are you sitting around picketing a bunch of nobodies (AP and JM) on the internet? maybe b/c you pick and choose your battles ?????? :limpyroll:
p.s.
I understand that mexican summer has to save face by dropping him from their roster, but I am more upset with the label than I am with ariel pink. good thing their roster has already ran its course into dated-ness. 10 bucks says they change their name from Mexican Summer and apologize for not doing so sooner. 'tis a sad day for great music. :/

Has anyone noticed how many women (family members and friends) are trying stick up for Ariel? With John, you don’t see any friends or family publicly trying to do the same. It’s like Ariel is a child or something and can’t handle the heat. I’m not saying Ariel is throwing John under the bus, but he’s definitely trying to divert the hate towards him. I know John is a grown ass man but I think he needs to cut ties with Ariel. But maybe he doesn’t want to. It’s sad to see the direction he’s heading. I be a hypocrite to say I’m going to get rid of my vinyls because I listen to other bands that have bad reps like Led Zeppelin and Aerosmith. No. He doesn’t owe us an explanation; but you got to own up that you were there and not be surprised by all the hate.

Sure, no one is perfect but it seems like the point you are trying to get across is that everything is so corrupt and fucked up that we might as well give up and not deal with issues like this when they pop up. No matter how hard someone tries to live a pure life, it’s impossible. There are vegans who buy clothes that were a product of child labor, human rights activists who pollute the air with their vehicles, people who feed the homeless and go to church but persecute the LGBT community, etc... There is not a single person who can do everything perfectly right in all aspects in their life, but sometimes there are obvious things that reasonable people can generally agree on.ludo666mace wrote: Sun Jan 10, 2021 6:58 pm Removal of the ariel pink forum is fascist, hypocritical censorship that is leading towards the disillusionment-complex running rampant in the United States today. i am aligned hard left, and I do not condone anything anti-humanitarian by any stretch of the imagination. I’ve been defending Ariel for years over the dumb shit he’s said and I believe the whole White House Trump rally isn’t the single issue people are disavowing him over. It’s a lot of things. I’m not as much angry as I am disappointed. When someone keeps saying shitty things over and over again, you eventually have to just make a decision to either go along with it or be done with it. I don’t think that’s being hypocritical and if it is, everything is hypocritical.

Maybe he was at the rally to ask for it back. I know if I hated nationalism I'd really regret giving money to the MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN guy.
Actually a bit annoyed now!
