So Pitchfork has linked to your Mediafire Upload, Bongoleena, which I think is first of all stupid of them (why not link to illegal uploads of big albums in the future?) and probably also a bit dangerous considering copyright laws. I don't really know what's the copyright case for Mix CDs that only get released as Rough Trade bonus CDs though.

I'm agree with you about the fact it's a little bit too soon to upload this mix , its still there promotial point , but i think a lot of people have already buy the new album .

About copyrights , it will really surprise me if Rough Trade made all the move to make this mix right about the law , i mean , there is a lot various tracks and it's very hard and long to gather all copyrights and have the right to sell a compilation .

The album itself is the item being sold...as someone said above, the mix cd is a bonus disc...correct? All of the stuff can be found on youtube, as far as I can tell. I don't see a huge quagmire in terms of copyright...

there are some typos in the track listing, such as "mannhein" instead of mannheim steamroller and "angus dei" instead of "agnus dei" by the tallis scholars. i just get nit-picky about that sort of stuff

This is no argument at all. YouTube is not a copyright-free space. It's merely a grey zone. Possibly protected by Google and feeding off the fact that no one knows how to deal with it properly.
If this was an argument, Pitchfork could have linked to a Mediafire upload of the new John Maus record as well.

Even if it's only a gimmick that is sold with the album at Rough Trade (I don't know they handle the copyright thing. Maybe they didn't clear rights at all), that doesn't give Pitchfork, who are claiming to be a proper journalistic magazine/website thing whatever, the right to link to an upload, which is in the same fashion of thousands of illegal uploads on the internet. I think it's totally inappropriate. More so from a journalistic than from a legal point of view.
